Bastrop has been designated a Bird City Texas by Texas Parks and Wildlife and Audubon Texas, meaning it has a great diversity of birds and is a bird friendly city. We are proud of this title and hope to share the love of birds with as many people as possible.
Because of this, PPLT is partnering with the Texas Master Naturalists to offer a FREE monthly birding hike at the Colorado River Refuge. This hike will be led by one or two birding experts who will help attendees spot and identify an abundance of birds found at the Refuge. This event is suitable for all levels of birders and families. No need to sign up- just show up at the Two Bridges Trailhead at 8:00 with your binoculars, hiking clothes and a water bottle.
Address: 315 Riverside Dr. Bastrop, TX 78602
The Two Bridges Trailhead is on Riverside Dr. The parking area is circular and you can park in the lot or along the road if it is full. The GPS coordinates are: 30°04'48.4"N 97°18'56.6"W
You can find lists of birds observed at all of our preserves on eBird.
Covid-19 update: Unfortunately we are cancelling all birding hikes for 2020. We hope to offer these birding outings again soon! Join our email list to stay up to date on our events.
