Bird City Bastrop Event: You’re invited to the monthly "Little Hike” which is a birding and photography gathering. Friday, August 12, 8:30-10:30 AM Location: Bob Bryant Park
This is the monthly Little Hike. Wear your long pants and boots, hats and sunscreen. Bring binoculars and cameras, and of course drinking water.
What is a LITTLE HIKE? It’s a gentle morning birdwatching hike with a focus on photography! The participants see how many birds can be documented and added to eBird while hiking. It’s great for beginners because more experienced folks will be around to offer guidance.
We meet every 2nd Friday from 8:30-10:00am in different parks, trails and sweet spots around Bastrop County. Suggested locations always welcome! We recommend 2 apps: 1. Merlin Bird ID (by Cornell Lab) for identifying birds and 2. eBird (from Cornell Lab of Ornithology) for submitting your checklists of spotted birds. Download apps, create an account, and then let the apps use your location to recommend a bird pack to download. Then explore!
