Snag Down For What!? - Volunteer Work Day at Yegua Knobbs Preserve

  • Pines and Prairies Land Trust McDade, TX (map)

We’ve reached the final stages of preparation for our scheduled prescribed burn, woohoo!

On this workday we will be removing standing snags (dead trees) along our prepared firebreaks. This project is part of our ongoing sitewide habitat restoration efforts, and allows volunteers to participate in the final stages of this important land management practice. This is an especially unique opportunity if you are curious about the practice of prescribed burning, or want to walk the parcel “before” and “after.” Melanie can discuss the project and our preparations in more detail on site.

Bring water, tools (loppers, chainsaws, handsaws etc.) and please wear long pants and shirts and closed-toe shoes.

Please register here so we can prepare for the number attending and make sure you have good directions to the preserve. After registering, you’ll be automatically taken to our waiver, so please also fill that out for 2023 if you haven’t already done so!
