Join Pines and Prairies Land Trust for a guided hike at Billig Ranch. Meet Outreach Manager, Laurie Mason, at the ranch to set off together through the southern pasture to explore one of our restored prairies. We will stop for a snack break at a shady clearing alongside the prairie, then continue on a short wooded trail studded with ancient oaks as we make our way back to the parking area. The total distance is at least 2.5 miles.
Please be aware that Billig Ranch is a working ranch, and the cattle often range through the area where we will be hiking. Participants should keep and eye out for cow pies, barbed wire fencing etc.
Registration is free, with a suggested donation of $5 to support Billig Ranch and future events. Gifts are greatly appreciated, but not required.
Good for: Individuals, groups, couples, families - all are welcome!
Facilities: There are no public restrooms or drinking water at Billig Ranch so please come prepared.
What to bring: water, sunscreen, extra snacks, small portable chairs or blankets to sit on. You may want day packs or back packs to cary your gear. Please wear closed-toed shoes and plan to pack out all waste.
