Pines and Prairies Land Trust is an organization with a mission to serve South Central Texas- its natural spaces and its community. We primarily focus on land conservation and nature education but these imperative objectives become secondary when the magnitude of injustice in our community and nation is so prominently displayed, as the freedoms and rights of people of color are so clearly violated.
We must act and demand change. We must have uncomfortable conversations, opening our minds and our hearts. We must not look away. Pines and Prairies Land Trust stands in solidarity with our country against racism, violence and the societal structures that repress people of color.
We believe that access to nature and the physical and mental health benefits associated with it, are rights to be enjoyed by all people. We commit to making our nature preserves safe and welcoming for everyone.
We commit to actively listening, to hear what diverse voices in our community are saying. We acknowledge that we have lots to learn.
We commit to ensuring our policies and procedures maximize inclusivity and equity in our work and to reaffirm our zero tolerance policy.
Pained by the recent and historical acts against people of color, we will continue to do what we can to build a more just and safe world for all, starting in the communities we serve.
Sincerely,
Pines and Prairies Land Trust Board and Staff
