CANCELED - Post-Halloween Scream - Volunteer Work Day at Yegua Knobbs Preserve

  • Pines and Prairies Land Trust McDade, TX (map)

**CANCELED** WILL RESCHEDULE FOR 11/9

Join PPLT’s Executive Director for a post-Halloween Scream at Yegua Knobbs as we work on another phase of Houston Toad habitat restoration. We will have a group that will spray regrowth yaupon in one area and another group hand-cutting yaupon in a different area.

We will supply all the herbicide mix ingredients (triclopyr, etc.), chemical-proof gloves and wash up supplies. If you have them, please bring your own sprayers (backpack sprayers preferred). We only have a few to lend out. This work has to be done on foot and we'll explain why before we start. We’ll also have to hike in with equipment. That’s the scream part!

Note: triclopyr use does not require a license. Label info here.

For those interested in cutting yaupon instead, please bring loppers, saws and other hand-held equipment you may have for clearing yaupon.

Please bring water, snacks and your own personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, etc.). Wear long sleeves, pants and closed-toe shoes. This is required for those using herbicide.

Please register here so we can prepare for the number attending and make sure you have good directions to the preserve. Keep an eye out for an email with more details prior to the work day. After registering, you’ll be automatically taken to our mandatory waiver. Please fill that out even if you’ve already done that or are only cutting yaupon, due to using herbicide on site.
